A tough battle in the Intermediate Championship saw the Young Irelands fall behind early, conceding two quick goals in the opening 8 minutes. St. Kevin’s struck with a well-finished goal, followed by another that was flicked into the net.
Managerial changes were made with Ruairi Kelly introduced for Cian Ó Náraigh to steady things in midfield. The Young Irelands responded well—Cian O’Donoghue got the ball across the line around the 15-minute mark to pull one back. This was shortly followed by a brilliant run from Derek Maguire, who laid it off to Dermot Mone to calmly finish to the net.
Momentum swung as the Irelands, who were 7 points down at one stage. They went into the dressing rooms 1 point ahead at the break.

Second Half
Jordan O’Donoghue opened the second-half scoring, with Michael O’Shea adding a fine two-pointer. The highlight came with a fantastic run from Liam McStravick, who buried the ball into the bottom corner, before Jack Watters clipped over another point. However, that proved to be the Irelands’ last score on 43 minutes.

St. Kevin’s responded strongly with two goals in the final quarter, pulling ahead and closing out the game. Despite a brilliant one-on-one save from Fergal Sheehy and spirited defending, the Irelands couldn’t regain control.

Substitutions were made as Lee O’Donoghue, Evan McArdle, and Derek Maguire re-entered the fray. With 10 minutes to go, Michael O’Shea received a red card.
